Introducing Homeschool Blog Parade's first Grand Marshal!

How exciting to introduce our first featured blogger at Homeschool Blog Parade! Our very first ever official Grand Marshall is...drum roll please....Patty Thompson! We are honored to have Patty featured, you will be well pleased to read all the great content on her site.

Patty Thompson has been married for 15 years to a recently "retired" Sailor who served our Country in the Navy. She is finding the transition to civilian life "INTERESTING!" She is a homeschooling mom to 4 kids (ages ranging from 5 to 13). She teaches with an eclectic style pulling from all philosophies of teaching in order to bring a love of learning to her kids. Some of her creations to help with this amazing task has been The Book of Virtues Project that goes with The Book of Virtues by William J. Bennett and a Writer's Workshop at Home. You can find a few other hidden gems on her blog at Shiver Academy, Patty is also a regular contributor on Heart of the Matter .

The first post that caught my attention at Shiver Academy was Writer’s Workshop At Home: Get Set!
I loved the idea of this so much I actually ran out and bought 2 composition books and followed the idea for my 7th grader!

Another favorite is her post A lesson Learned This is an honest, and tell it like it is article that many are sure to relate to.

Everybody have their parade floats ready? Follow Patty by reading and commenting on her blog and visiting a few bloggers on the parade route. Have fun!

Hi! I know you are super busy, so I am going to try to keep this message as short as possible.
I have started a new series on my homeschooling and homemaking deals site and would love to feature 1 or 2 of your posts each week. The new series, "Homeschooling on the Cheap!" is set up through blog carnival. You simply go to my carnival each week between Saturday and Thursday to submit your best posts for the upcoming Saturday edition. That's it! I would love to share your posts with my readers during my Homeschooling on the Cheap weekly feature.
You can see my first edition here: http://3boysandadog.com/deals/2011/homeschooling-on-the-cheap-july-9-2011/
and you can submit your posts to the upcoming carnival here: http://blogcarnival.com/bc/submit_13928.html
Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and I hope to see your submissions soon. :-)

My homeschooled daughter just graduation Magna Cum Laude from Marietta College on May 12th. I would enjoy being a part of this if you think it would help others who may struggle and wonder if they are “messing up” their children. Please let me know.
